Become an admin and spawn items in Rust

Give yourself owner rights and use the most useful admin commands.

Owner rights unlock the admin tools in Rust. You grant them once from the server console and they stay saved.

Find Your SteamID64

Your SteamID64 is the 17 digit number in your Steam profile URL, starting with 7656119. If your profile uses a custom URL, a SteamID lookup site will convert it for you.

Make Yourself an Owner

  1. Open the server console window, or connect with an RCON tool.
  2. Run the command below with your own SteamID64 and name.
  3. Run server.writecfg to save it, then reconnect to the server.

ownerid 76561198000000000 "YourName" "Server owner"

For staff who shouldn't have full control, use moderatorid instead. Remove access with removeowner or removemoderator.

Spawn Items

Admins can open the item list from the F1 menu and click any item to spawn it. From the console, items use their short names, like rifle.ak, ammo.rifle or wood:

Useful Admin Commands

  • noclip toggles flying. Bind it to a key with bind v noclip.
  • god true stops you taking damage.
  • debugcamera detaches the camera so you can look around freely.
  • env.time 12 sets the time of day to midday.
  • teleport "PlayerName" moves you to a player.
